Australian Immi App Expands to 34 Countries: A Faster, Simpler Visa Process
Great news for visa applicants globally! The Australian Government has taken a significant step towards a more digital and streamlined migration system. As of late 2025, the Australian Immi App has expanded its reach, allowing eligible applicants in 34 countries to complete their biometrics collection directly from their smartphones.
At Visamigo Lawyers, we know that the visa application process can often feel overwhelming and time-consuming. This update removes a major hurdle for many of our clients, eliminating the need to visit a biometric collection centre in person.
What is the Australian Immi App?
The Australian Immi App is a secure mobile application that allows you to submit your facial biometrics and passport information digitally.
Instead of booking an appointment and travelling to a collection centre, eligible applicants can now complete these checks from the comfort of their own home.
Key Benefits for Applicants:
Convenience: No need to travel to a biometric collection centre.
Cost Savings: There is no charge to use the app, saving you travel costs and appointment fees.
Speed: Submitting information digitally can help streamline the processing of your application.
Who is Eligible?
To utilize this streamlined process, you must meet the following criteria:
Previous Biometrics: You must have previously provided your biometrics (facial image and fingerprints) to the Department of Home Affairs.
Valid Passport: You must hold a valid passport.
Eligible Location: You must be applying from one of the supported countries.
Note: If you have never provided biometrics before, you will likely still need to visit a collection centre to provide your initial fingerprints and facial image.
Now Available in 34 Countries
From 24 November 2025, the Department of Home Affairs added 19 new countries to the program. The app is now available to eligible applicants in the following locations:
Newly Added Countries:
Middle East & Africa: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, United Arab Emirates
Americas: Colombia, Mexico, Peru
Europe: France, Greece
Asia: Pakistan
Previously Supported Countries:
Pacific: Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, New Zealand (third-country nationals)
Asia: Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Iran
What’s Next?
The Australian Government has signaled that this is just the beginning. A final expansion to all remaining countries in Australia’s biometric collection program is scheduled for early 2026.
The goal is clear: to make Australia’s visa system more accessible to more people, in more places.
